25 weeks

So, 25 weeks! That means 15 weeks to go. Happily I'm still in the double digit countdown. I think once I get below ten I still start to freak out more. I've just about finished the nursery. I'm going to paint the bookcase next weekend and order the rug this weekend then that's it! I'll post pictures once it's completely finished.

This week the baby is the length of an ear of corn. I've got my last monthly checkup next week then I start going every other week. Next week we will just be listening to the heartbeat. Then I schedule my glucose test and at some point I'll have another ultrasound since the baby was stubborn and wouldn't let us get a good look at her the first time. Or I guess you could look at it as she was being helpful making it so we get to take another sneak peek! That's what I'm going to tell myself.

Victor took some better pictures than these but you could see my bright green slipper socks and I just couldn't bring myself to put a picture on the internet. I love my slipper socks (thanks Keeg!) but not with a dress. Actually, this is a pre-maternity dress. I need to find some cheap cotton dresses for this summer! I think I've stretched this one to it's max. And I'd like to be able to wear it again after the baby is born.

Sorry, no side pic this week. This is the best I've got.

Definitely bigger than my head now!

If the baby were laying on the changing table this is what she would look like. And no, I don't plan on having a throw pillow and Piglet on the changing table. They are just hanging out until the bookcase is ready for them.

24 weeks

Sorry I didn't post last week. Last week's food was a squash. I don't really like squash so I wasn't feeling very moved by it. I also didn't really want to spend the money on something we definitely wouldn't eat. Then I meant to post just a general hand-under-tummy picture but the week got away from me. Sorry about that. You didn't miss much. Though, that did make me think of a few weeks ago when the baby was an avocado! She's gotten much bigger.

So, this week the baby is a pineapple. We tried to be festive by posing near our cute new purple flowering tree. Unfortunately, our neighbor's basketball hoop kind of ruins the look. And no, I'm not wearing any shoes. I like super thick calluses. They are cool.

Baby bump is slowly overtaking baby fruit.

My tootsies are disappearing! I think Victor needs to learn how to paint nails. I refuse to go out in sandals with unpainted toes.

So, that's it this week. This weekend I'm going on a girls' weekend babymoon and visiting Andrea Nicole in Atlanta. Thus the hot pink toe nails!

22 weeks

So, like you all know by now, it's a girl! She's 1 pound 1 ounce which is right about average for a baby her age. They kept my due date at August 28-29 so everything seems to be right on track. They weren't able to get a picture of her kidneys or lungs so I'm going to have another ultrasound in a few months. But, that's fine with me, another ultrasound paid for by insurance sounds great to me.

This week the baby is a papaya. She's getting really long! And my tummy has suddenly started showing a lot more this week. I saw that Anthropologie has a kid apron that matches my cupcake one that my siblings gave me a few Christmases ago. I'm trying really really hard to keep myself from buying it. We'll see how long my will power lasts...

Inky didn't want to get off my lap to let me take pictures. She's becoming very high maintenance. She's still longer than the papaya though.

I foresee this position quite a bit in my future. Baby on my tummy, Inky on my lap. Oh joy. Somebody remind me why we went to so much trouble to tame her.

21 weeks

Well, we passed the halfway mark. This week the baby is about as long as a banana and not quite a full pound (thus is box of pasta.) Victor said I look extra pregnant this week. So, either I popped this weekend it's the fact that I'm wearing fitted clothes that show off the bump.

My mom came up this weekend and we went shopping. Now I finally have some clothes that fit! I still need comfy capris though. Gap had some cute ankle length pants but I feel like those are going to be just as hot as full length pants this summer. So, this weekend I'm going to check out Old Navy. I'm very thankful to be pregnant at this point in time, when I don't have to wear huge jumpers and blouses just to hide my bump. I figure pregnancy is the one point in my life when my tummy can be as big as I like and I don't have to worry about it! So I'm milking it for all its worth.

I look sort of like a pregnant t-rex in this first picture with my mini-arm.

Smile!
I think the baby work me up kicking this morning. I'm not positive, it could have been a dream... but I'm pretty sure that's what was going on. I think baby was trying to say it's bored and likes being rocked to sleep when I move around during the day. If the baby is that smart in utero to know to kick to wake me up, and to keep kicking until I do, it's got to be pretty darn stubborn as well. Not sure where that stubbornness would come from since both Victor and I are so mellow and never stubborn... (cue foreboding music)

20 weeks

We made it halfway! That's the big news for the week. Not much else new. I ordered the dresser/changing table combo. We'll see how long it takes us to put it together. We've had the crib over a month and it's still in the box. Though, this weekend I did put together one of the rocking chairs I bought Victor for Christmas. But... neither of us has quite been brave enough to test it out. Maybe I'll wait until my engineer brother comes into town and sweet talk him into putting the crib together. Then it will be indestructible.

I learned that the possible reason last week's mango was smaller than the previous week's sweet potato is because apparently tropical mangos are bigger than grocery store mangos. The Bump should have specified which it meant. Though, I guess I could have actually weighed the mango to get one closer to the appropriate size. I'm hoping they meant a tropical mango, however, because look at the difference between last week's baby and this week's baby! I don't think that's normal.

So, obviously this week the baby is a cantaloupe. I bought one of the smaller ones I could find and it still seems huge!

Football hold!

Victor can be very artistic when he sets his mind to it.

So, that's it for this week. Hopefully we will know the sex within the next few weeks. And hopefully the doctor tells us the right sex and we don't get a surprise on the delivery table!

Bookcases are finished!

We finally finished the bookcases!! The carpenter came by on Saturday and put the finishing touches on. Then I painted the fireplace while Victor painted the back of the cases that go down the steps into the basement. We've slowly been putting our books away. It looks so good! We are getting a few more shelves to insert by the basement and around the tv, because, it's going to be tight with just the books we already own so we want plenty of room for more. The area above the tv is reserved for little tchotchkes so it's empty for now. I've never let myself buy nicknacks because I never had a place to put them! Now we can finally start working on the nursery and the yard. I'm amazed at how many weeds we already have. Yuck!

19 weeks

Almost halfway there! At my next appointment we will (hopefully) find out the sex! I'm trying not to get too excited, however, because sometimes the baby decides to be willful and keep it's legs closed so we would have to come back another day and try again. Hopefully it's a good baby and lets us take a peek!

I am so ready to start nesting people. Unfortunately, as you can see in my first picture of the week, we are still working on the shelves. They are all over the living room drying. Most of the stuff currently in the nursery can't be moved out until the shelves are finished because the stuff will be going in those shelves. Happily, the carpenter is supposed to come by and put the finishing touches on the shelves this weekend so we can get this mess finished. I think it's worth the time because they look so good and make the stairs to the basement much more safe. Then I can start on the nursery! My mom offered to make roman shades and I'm excited to start picking out the fabric. I'm thinking white and yellow stripes.

The baby this week is a mango. It's very odd, because a mango is shorter than a sweet potato so I'm not sure how that works. Maybe it weighs more. Or maybe my baby shrank. Yes, I have a wet spot on my shirt. No, I don't know what it is.

Why are you smaller than last week, baby?
