The new falls shoes

Chicago!

This weekend we all went to Chicago! Vivian had a great time and it wore her out. It was great to catch up with old friends. She was really good on the flights. I did learn that aisle seats are much better than window because it lets her look around at the other passengers which kept her entertained most of the flight back.

I let Vivian get out as much energy as possible before the flight.

Walking

I've been trying so hard to get a video of Little V walking but it's hard! I guess I need to invest in a tripod or something. She's not walking far enough that I can get more than a step or two. She also gets down and crawls when she sees the camera to try and grab it from me. So far this picture is the best I can do.

More smocking

I realize this outfit is more spring than summer but I love it! I'm probably going to buy a pink cardigan and put her in it for the winter as well.

You might wonder why Vivian refuses to let go of this jar of Nutella. She found it in my lunchbox and just won't let it go. Why was a jar of Nutella in my lunch box I'll never tell you don't want to know

Like a toothache

Last week while I was on break Vivian and I went to play with the train set at Barnes and Noble. She really liked it! She didn't quite understand how to make them move around but she liked playing with them. There was even an older boy there who she tried to play and interact with. She's so social with kids!

But, just so you don't think she's sweet all the time, last night I was too slow to clear her tray once she was finished eating so she threw all the noodles and Turkey on the floor. I was not pleased.

Candy Striper

Poor Vivian is cutting all four molars at once! She's been pretty miserable for the last week. I thought she was just sick - Laurie is the one who figured out it was teething. The pediatrician said she was working on all four but I didn't realize he meant right now!

This is the first picture that makes me think she might be my child. I tilted my head like this in pictures when I was younger also.

And then she's Victor's child again! Climbing all over chairs and making crazy faces.

More birthday photos

12 Months Old

Vivian had her 12 month appointment today. Poor kid did not like her shots! Mostly because I wouldn't let her pick the bandaids off her legs. She calmed down fairly quickly. There were a lot of kids getting back-to-school shots so all down the hall there was lots and lots of crying!

She hasn't grown all that much. She gained two pounds and is up to 22 pounds she has dropped to the 80% in weight. I think that's probably due to adding milk without dropping formula. She will probably taper back to her 9-12 gain once we drop the formula. She only grew 1 inch so she's up to  28 in the 25%. So that dropped quite a bit! Her head is still in the 50%. 

Otherwise the pediatrician said she looked good. He was impressed with her walking. And in the waiting room she got so many compliments on her shoes!! Even a random teenage boy complimented them.

Vivian picked out this dress today. Not kidding - I opened the closet door and was looking at her dresses when she reached out and grabbed this one. She's started trying to dress herself and becomes very frustrated when she cannot do it. So that doesn't bode well until she becomes more coordinated!!

On another note - do my dear readers think I could throw a long-sleeved t-shirt or turtleneck under this for her to wear into the cold months? It's not really a jumper but it's so big I hate to put it away when the weather changes!

Birthday Pictures

I have a whole bunch of birthday pictures. I'm obviously not going to post all of them but I'll do some highlights over the next few days. Here's the day we spent hanging out on the dock. She didn't love the life vest but the puddle jumper worked a little better. 

Sir Angus the Brave. He's a good dog - he even let Vivian pet him on his nose when he thought nobody was looking. And he's only the second dog I've liked - apparently I like dogs named Gus(sie).

Love Muffin

We didn't give Vivian any cake today. I know, the poor child lives a sad, desolate life. We decided to wait and just do the cake this weekend because Victor doesn't get home until 6:30 or so and that's just way too late for a sugar rush!

Happily Laurie made her blueberry muffins because she loves blueberries so so much. We got so lucky when we found Laurie. The fact that she look the time to make the muffins and figured out her favorite type of food is great. She also gave Vivian a cute little outfit.

Marin and Leah were also sweet and gave Vivian a present! Vivian can't wait until the next time she can play with them. Hopefully it will be soon!! Here's Vivian playing with all her new books.
